Welcome to ArtReach Project #19
The South of Downtown Art Hub Project
Good things can happen when people come together for a good purpose. When the South of Downtown Community Development Organization (CDO) asked The ArtReach Project to help them create a new space for the community, everyone pitched in and renovated a historic place at 11th and B, giving it fresh new life for what's to come. During the month of October, over 50 volunteers, from neighborhood kids and a UNL multicultural sorority, Delta Xi Nu, to Spreetail employees and the good ole ArtReach gang, put in over 350 hours worth of priming, peeling, scrubbing, sweeping, and painting to freshen up a beautiful new space for the Everett neighborhood and the CDO. The Nebraska Wildlife Federation even jumped in to prepare and plant a new pollinator garden on the south side, a spot that had previously been overtaken by weeds and shrubs...and cigarette butts.
Though the plan was for The ArtReach Project to find a new home in the art hub as well, things just didn't work out and the space with the turquoise door remains in the hands of the CDO staff to carry out the vision of the art hub. We are all big fans of creating community and seeing the arts thrive though so all good things moving forward! Enjoy, Lincoln! ArtReach has made another mark. Thanks for helping!
