The Teen Art League, for kids in grades 7+, is a new generation of culture creators who like to ponder, create, plan and interact. In this program, students are challenged to grow as artists and become collaborative thinkers. Students in this class are typically already actively creating in their personal home/educational environments and are thus encouraged to think of this class as an incubator for their ideas. Students will be challenged to take their creative endeavors to the next level as they are given the opportunity to show and tell others what they make and teach the other students in the class how to make it.
Students will be mentored with weekly lessons that reflect the interest of the group to include but not limited to: drawing, sketching, collaborating, service oriented art projects and new methods and materials. Bring your own sketchbook so we can keep adding to your drawings with new challenges and ideas! We will explore weekly warm ups, exercises and prompts all designed to invite your imagination to see things in a new and interesting way as well as to sharpen your skills of observation and representation.
Students in this class are invited to the monthly Spotlight Saturday event where they will be given an additional opportunity to shadow and create with one of our Spotlight Artists. In addition they can help organize, set up, greet visitors and be involved with the day's events.
