Description

At·el·ier·is·ta

An atelierista is an educator with an arts background, sometimes referred to as a “studio teacher.” This teacher is an artist and an art teacher, who knows the potential in many media materials. The atelierista welcomes children’s ideas and develops projects with their arts training that helps provide a new perspective on creative learning.

The Atelierista recognizes that children are born with thousands of ideas and have hundreds of languages of expression. The goal of the Atelier is to provide as many of these languages as possible (drawing, painting, singing, dancing, speaking, sculpting, building, taking apart, dramatic play…) and to be open to the possibility of many, many more. The environment of the Atelier along with the skilled direction of the Atelierista helps extend children’s and adult’s thinking through project work.
